| More and more women are learning how to enjoy outdoor recreational activities such as target shooting, hunting, fishing, backpacking and canoeing as a way to get outdoors, learn something new, connect with nature, and just unwind from their hectic busy every day life! You can learn the outdoor skills that are necessary to enjoy these activities and share them with your family members and friends too! Beginners are our specialty! The Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program, sponsored by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, offers a mix of outdoor classes and workshops with a schedule to fit every womans lifestyle! Our traditional BOW Discovery weekends are offered in both summer and winter months. The weekend registration fee includes 2 nights of lodging, all meals and your choice of classes. Discovery weekends are designed for beginners and all equipment for hands-on learning is provided. Beyond BOW events are offered throughout the entire year at various locations all across Michigan. Beyond BOW events are typically one day or weeknight classes, focusing on one activity only. Most Beyond BOW events are taught at the beginning level, but occasionally we offer more advanced classes based on demand. Beyond BOW Outdoor Adventures are actual outings for women to come together and test their newly learned skills! These outdoor adventures may be a pheasant hunt, a Great Lakes fishing trip, a round of sporting clays, a backpacking trip along Lake Superior or a canoeing and camping overnight adventure on the Rifle river. The BOW program continues to add new programs each year based on our customers
interests and we also offer some events for mothers/daughters and even some for the whole family to attend! Visit the BOW webpage for current events which are open for registration. Most BOW events are limited in size, so early registration is recommended. Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. |
